Love is one of the most powerful forces in human life and also one of the most complex to study. Neuroscience is beginning to reveal the biological mechanisms behind attachment, desire, empathy, and social bonding. From the release of neurochemicals like oxytocin and dopamine to the activation of brain regions involved in memory, motivation, and reward, love engages a wide network of neural systems that influence how we connect, behave, and heal.

In 2019 in Los Angeles and again in 2021 in New York City, BrainMind hosted salons dedicated to this theme. These gatherings brought together neuroscientists, clinicians, artists, and entrepreneurs to explore what science is uncovering about love, from its evolutionary roots to its role in mental health and human flourishing.

As research continues to connect emotional experience with biological understanding, the neuroscience of love offers a deeper lens into how we relate to others, to ourselves, and to the world around us.
